You know when you've completed a plastic model and the pesky manufacturer provides you with oodles of extra's that you don't use, well I decided to use some. Yes this is another take on my building something from nothing insanity.
As I was recently painting up my BFG ships I thought it might be fun to have some transports as objectives, a quick trawl through the t'interweb for inspiration resulted in me gleefully diving into my bits box looking for old bits of sprue to kit bash together.
So what we have here are parts from GW's Tau, Space Marines and Imperial Guard Range cobbled together to create what I think are perfectly acceptable transports for BFG. I did manage to squeeze a few left over weapons batteries and comms towers in there too to keep the scale right and overall I'm quite happy with how they've turned out.
Here's a shot with my recently completed Frigates to show scale, I'll add them to the group shot once I get round to taking one.

Oooh, Spaceships
So I’ve just managed to get finished the final batch of ships
for my Battlefleet Gothic Imperial Fleet. These little babies are the Sword and
Firestorm frigates, nice little models with plenty of character.
The Sword is armed with a weapons battery (think naval broadside) whilst the firestorm has a forward firing lance, easily enough to handle those pesky chaos raiders.
As I said this finishes off my BFG fleet however I do need to go back and do some more detailing on the bigger models, that’s the curse I guess of painting stuff over a ten year period. You end up getting better and need to redo stuff!

So once I’ve touched up the older stuff I’ll do a group shot,
then it’ll be time to get out the space sheet and play a few games of space
warfare!

BFG - Dauntless Light Cruisers
A bit more progress in my slow and steady battlefleet gothic project with the completion of these two Dauntless class light cruisers.

I have to say I'm quite enjoying my little space adventure and am looking forward to completing my sword and firestorm frigates now. I've taken a few comparison pics so you can see how small my most recent ships are against a cruiser and capital ship!

I think I'll have to go back and added some more detail to my battlecruisers as they're looking a little stale compared to my more recent ships. Now I just need to talk someone into having a game!

Cobra Destroyers for BFG
My hobby output over the last 6 months has been pretty
shabby to be honest. My entry to the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge wasn’t
very inspiring although I did manage to post two submissions. My first was
pretty good in that it consisted of a wide variety of bits and bobs that I’d
been working on and I posted that on this blog a while ago. However the below
was my 2nd (and last) submission for this years challenge - a few GW
Battlefleet Gothic ships.
My exploration of BFG started about 10 years ago when I
lived in the UK and attended a weekly club (the Pennine Raiders!!!), where we
ran a mini campaign. BFG had always been on my to do list so I dived in feet
first and bought a full Imperial Navy fleet. However it’s taken me the last 10
years to actually paint them and I’m rather ashamed to admit that most of them
have never been on active deployment defending the Imperium from marauding
Orks, terrible Tyranids or mind blowingly moronic GW management (who decide to abolish
specialist games and then try and resurrect it in the vain hope that they can
con a load of new gamers out of their hard earned whilst stopping the older die
hards from promoting and improving the game in a not for profit manner to a the
aforementioned load of new gamers!).
Anyway….
Next up will be my Firestorm Frigates and Dauntless Light Cruisers
